Internship
Duette Animal Rescue Team offers both a domestic and an international internship program for individuals who are interested in learning more about farming, working with cattle and domestic and exotic animals. There are 2 intern positions available year-round. DART provides room and board for all accepted applicants for the entire stay. Minimum stay is 2 months, maximum stay is 3 months. The first two weeks of the internship are probationary, and DART reserves the right to terminate the internship in the first two weeks if the intern does not meet the requirements of the program.
DART is a no direct contact animal organization when interacting with exotic animals such as our prosimians (lemurs).
The facility has a strict alcohol and drug free environment policy. Intern living quarters are smoke free. There is one outdoor designated smoking area at the facility.
Interns will gain practical experience in livestock, domestic and exotic animal husbandry and will be involved with our behavioral research programs. Experiences at DART will include feeding, cleaning, animal health, animal management, behavioral studies, enrichment, operant conditioning, record keeping, assisting in construction and habitat modification, fundraising and related activities.
