President and Founder

My name is Brigitte and I am the founder of DART which stands for Duette Animal Rescue Team, Inc. I founded DART in 2020 in Manatee County to help address the challenges with the overpopulation of feral and stray community cats as well as the plight for exotic ex-pets such as lemurs.

I immigrated from the Netherlands to the USA and have since obtained my American citizenship. I have had and still have a successful career in Corporate America for over 30 years now and volunteer all of my spare time completely to the mission of DART.

I have a Bachelor Degree in Science in Information Systems from the University of Florida and have almost completed a Bachelor Degree in Science in Animal Sciences at Saint Petersburg College in Clearwater.

My volunteer experience with animals spans over 30 years, having worked at County Animal Shelters and various exotic animal sanctuaries.

I am very proud to say that we are a minority lead non-profit 501c3 organization lead by all women. We pride ourselves in the fact that we are a strong proponent of diversity and inclusion practices for the clients we serve.
